Diary of a future rentier (69)

This post is part 68 of 86 in the series Diary of a future rentier.

It's starting. I'm laying the foundations of my new life. Registering this morning for the training courses that will lay the foundations of my future "activity". I don't yet know exactly how to describe the latter. "Accessory" seems to me to be the least bad term, because it shows how unnecessary it is to my new existence. I could also have said alibi, but that's too reductive. Yes, the alibi aspect exists, but it's not just that. I want this occupation to really occupy a certain part of my schedule in the future, even if its contribution is planned to remain modest. I especially want to get pleasure from it, unlike my (still) current profession.

I have rarely been so impatient to start a training course, a sign that the difference is great between choices that are made in total freedom, without any constraints of a family, hierarchical or economic nature. For the first time in my life, my "professional" choices (that's not really the right term but I don't know what other term to use) are dictated solely by my desires. Some people are lucky enough to be able to choose very early on what they want to do. This was not my case because my parents strongly encouraged me to choose other more traditional and more "serious" paths. Among the latter, I never found the shoe that fit me. I tried to take pleasure in my tasks despite everything, and I even managed to do so sometimes for a while. Nevertheless, the respite was always short-lived. You can change the packaging, but if there's crap in the gift, it will always smell bad.

Taking on these training courses will also allow me to look to the future and finally mourn the loss of my current activity. I will then be ready to turn the page and give my very last letter of termination.
