Performance for the first half of 2014

There performance in CHF from portfolio in the first half of 2014, stood at +5,89%. Cumulatively, this brings our annual return since launch (03.02.2010) to +14.15%. The portfolio outperformed the market (SPI +10.89%) during this bullish half-year, which is to be expected given its defensive nature. These excellent figures are not to be taken lightly: the market is clearly overheating at the momentworse than in 2007, and not far from 2000... Suffice to say, it stinks... That's why it's more important than ever to focus on low-beta stocks with a long track record of rising dividends.

The portfolio's dividend growth now amounts to 11.09% per annum. Thanks to this, my portfolio's yield on cost is 3.1%, despite recent purchases, even though the current yield is less than 2%. Despite this substantial dividend growth, the distribution ratio The portfolio's average yield remains particularly conservative at 46%. This still leaves plenty of room for growth in future dividends.

In the 1st quarter, net dividends amounted to CHF 725 (CHF 533 in the same quarter of the previous year). In the second quarter, CHF 1,380 were received, compared with CHF 1,010 in the same period last year. The second quarter is always richer, thanks to Swiss annual dividends. I'm making slow but steady progress towards financial independence, and am now 10% away from the goal of retiring completely from the professional world.
