Interview with Armand

Armand has been writing on dividendes.ch since April 28, 2013. He brings a behavioralist vision of finance to the blog, which I fully support. Despite all the computer systems that drive the financial markets, there are still people behind every investment decision. Whether they are traders, engineers, bankers, pension fund managers or simple stock market speculators, they all let themselves be guided, willingly or not, by their emotions. It is impossible to escape! Thank you Armand for your always enlightened articles and for taking the time to answer my questions.

Why did you decide to write for dividendes.ch?

I have been managing funds for over 30 years due to family circumstances. I have gone through all the possible phases, from active to passive management, from enthusiasm to despair, from pride to shame, from the impression that others know more than me to the impression that I am surrounded by (financial advisors) who are useless. So I wanted to crystallize my experience and my impressions of these years of experience. It also helps me to rationalize such disturbing emotions. Incidentally, I like to write. I really like the simplicity (great strength!) of the dividend strategy and I had the pleasure of meeting Jérôme in person!

What do you like about the growing dividend strategy?

Its simplicity, its logic, its independence from bankers' advice, its cost and its logic.

How did you come to follow this strategy?

By my awareness of the interest of this strategy following a conference given by Jérôme, my reading of the blog, the implementation of this strategy for part of my funds and the success which results from it

How long have you been investing in the stock market?

Over 30 years

Why did you decide one day to invest your money in stocks?

It is the asset that combines the best return with the least risk (yes, yes!) if you choose your securities well and do not trade.

Do you remember your first purchase?

No

As an investor, did you experience the bursting of the internet bubble and the subprime crisis? What memories do you have of them today and what did you learn from them?

Yes. The frustrating feeling that it was inevitable and that I had been fooled with so many others (the banks continue to charge fees...). This made me aware of the emotional part (behavioral finance) and I work a lot on this subject (being my first subject of experience) through reading and courses.

What do you do for a living? Do you have a job or are you already a rentier?

I am a partner in a service company (B to B) and director of several small companies (start-ups).
