Business expenses

Shipping costsAlthough many people derive pleasure from their work, most of us have a relationship with it that is primarily based on money. How many would still go to work if their job was unpaid? Not many, I guess. We feel, after a hard day's work, that we have done our duty, which is to bring home some money to pay the bills, the rent and feed the whole family. It is not necessarily the most motivating thing, but hey, at least we meet our essential physiological needs, such as eating and sleeping. For the others, I will not go into further detail...

However, and we often tend to forget this, when we work we also lose money. I talk about this in my E-Book, depending on the situation, around 10 to 30% of the salary is spent on income acquisition costs. Include transport, work clothes, drinks, food, possible accommodation, but also certain medical expenses related to your activity (self-medication, massages, etc.) and even certain vacations that you would not normally take (anti-stress spa treatments)... the list can be long.

Of course, assuming you do nothing, you would also have food and clothing expenses and you would have to keep yourself busy by paying for leisure activities. But as if by magic, professional expenses are often higher than household expenses, because money is taken where it is... You have to go to eat in a restaurant, or at best in a canteen, which in any case costs more than at home. Clothes for your professional activity very often require you to have a different wardrobe than the one you have in your private life.

I personally compared my business expenses to my net income and I come to roughly 20%. This means that I work one day out of five to cover the costs inherent to earning my income. Needless to say, on that day I get up for nothing. And I'm not even talking about that of what the State takes...

On the path to income acquisition, multiple vultures are waiting to try to nibble as many crumbs as possible from your feast. How many of you earn more than you did 10 years ago, without feeling like you're living better? happiness curve This probably has something to do with it, but you also have to consider all the expenses that are necessary (or not) to maintain your lifestyle, but which do not add anything more to your existence. Professional expenses are part of this.
