Holland test (RIASEC)

THE test RIASEC refers to a theory of careers and occupational choices (based on personality types) that was originally developed by American psychologist John L. Holland. The idea is that if people are aware of their personality type they can choose occupations that suit them better and make them happy. The choice of a vocation is ultimately an expression of personality.

According to John Holland's theory, most people fall into one of six personality types:

1. Realistic: need to be physically involved in what he is doing.

2. Investigator: possessed of a thirst for knowledge and learning.

3. Artistic: wishes to express emotions or thoughts through art forms.

4. Social: attracted to activities that foster contact with others, particularly with the aim of helping them.

5. Enterprising: likes to have responsibilities, to overcome challenges in the hope of rising to the top.

6. Conventional: wants to respect standards, instructions and rules

The RIASEC test consists of a few questions about how you behave, feel, and act. Each question has boxes to answer YES or NO. Try to decide whether YES or NO represents your usual way of acting or feeling, then check the box labeled YES or NO. Work quickly and do not spend too much time on all the questions. Your first reaction is probably the best.

  1. to get back to the subject, for my part I did this Holland test, but in more depth by answering 300 items (very long).
    The result was "surprising without being so" because it is an exact reflection of my personality.

    Have a nice day!

  2. I took the test at the executive employment center.
    It is more of a test aimed at children in middle school who are looking for direction.
    Not really of interest to an adult.
     "You are going to live in a space station.... Answer the questions..."

  3. enjoys leading, convincing people, selling objects and services; generally avoids activities requiring careful observation and scientific and analytical thinking;
    • values success in politics or business;

    • considers himself energetic, ambitious and sociable.

    Enterprising people are adventurous, ambitious, assertive, outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic, confident, optimistic, dominant, persuasive and motivating. They prefer work that involves leadership, business, politics, public speaking, risk-taking, debate and competition.

  4. I just did the test to see if I would use it in the coaching support that I offer and for me it is a bit basic. It is too binary. There are other sites where the questionnaire is a bit more complex. For personality types, I also work with the Enneagram but I wanted to have a more "professionally" oriented tool because I support people in professional retraining (www.isabelleantoine.be).

  5. ‍To be honest this test didn't help me much
    It's a lot more complicated than that to find a job that really suits us.
