Unable to buy some US ETFs on Interactive brokers at this time.
The reason mentioned by Interactive Brokers is "this product does not have a KID or KIID in an approved language for your country".
The problem is new and probably due to the evolution of certain legislation, etc.
I currently have several positions on securities that are marked as NT in red, right next to the symbol. This was not the case before and it was quite possible to buy these ETFs (e.g. AVDV, VBR, SLYV, VNQ). It seems that this is a problem on Interactive brokers but not on Cornetrader for example, at least to date. So I hope that the issuer will provide a translation in our official language, as soon as possible…, so that these products are available again.
I wrote to IB to see if there was a solution.
Curious to know if anyone has already found a solution to this problem!?
April 30, 2023 at 5:52 p.m. #419759This reminds me of the restrictions that are imposed on European investors on American ETFs. Until now, we in Switzerland had been spared this two-bit protectionism.

This therefore corresponds in fact to the restrictions encountered by European investors, several of whom have already spoken to me about these problems.
So a priori, Switzerland should not be affected, so I will write to them about this too.

Indeed, according to IB's response, it is a bug, curious... The latter will be resolved quickly according to them! So much the better if everything is back to normal and let's hope it lasts...

It's frustrating not to be able to buy certain ETFs, especially when you were able to acquire them freely before. The red "NT" mark often indicates that trades on these securities are "Non-Tradable", probably due to the lack of a translated KID/KIID for your market.
Have you considered contacting Interactive Brokers support to discuss alternative solutions, such as purchasing similar ETFs that are available? Sometimes, they can also direct you to other equivalent products that meet regulatory requirements.
Also keep an eye out for updates from issuers who might publish the necessary documents in your language to make ETFs accessible again. In the meantime, exploring other platforms like Cornetrader, as you mentioned, might be a good idea to temporarily work around the issue.

November 23, 2024 at 09:30 #423788Hello, Like you at the time I was faced with this problem and therefore questioned IBKR on the subject, the answer was very simple: "don't forget that you can use options" and there I immediately realized that it was enough to sell puts an hour or two before the weekly or monthly liquidation in order to be assigned and enter the securities into the portfolio,,, You can of course sell whenever you want,,,,, of course you have to know how options work, it is preferable but not insurmountable at all
